Start of the Initiative - بداية المبادرة


في يناير 2012 ، حصلت أمنية خليل علي منحة صغار الفنانين من المجلس الثقافي البريطاني ، لتقيم معرضها الاول -دفاعا عن مفهوم تطوير المناطق المتدهورة عمرانيا- وضد فلسفة وسياسة الاخلاء القسري والتهجير التي تتبعها الحكومة المصرية وفي مارس 2012 اخرجت أمنية تقديم مبسط يوضح الافكار المبدئية والاسئلة التي سيطرحها المعرض في يوليو 2012




In January 2012 , Omnia Khalil granted (grants to artists) from the British Council in Cairo , in order to exhibition her ideas and thoughts, defending the approach of community action planning in the informal areas and the urban deteriorated districts, moreover against the state's policy of forced evictions and evacuations to the residents to the far remote areas. Here Omnia presented a simple clarified presentation about the introduction of the exhibition, which should be held in July 2012

  1. Thank you very much for your endeavors to make our country a better one. Most of Egyptian neighborhoods need effort to be a nice place to live. Even here, in 6 October City, where I live. I spent 2 yrs upgrading my street. I build a concrete pavement, created a garden, grew 6 trees, built 2 wooden seats and cleaned the street often. All by my own hands, and with reused materials.

    However, the informal settlements around Cairo need more than that. I think our urban expansion is rather an unhealthy swelling. I want to participate in your endeavors to develop informal settlements. We can help poor people paint their houses, build wooden roofs and clean their streets.
